What different religions say about the LGBT+ community

LGBT continues to be a contentious matter for several major religions of the world. A few religions have stringent preaching against homosexual and bisexual activities. Some religions are relatively less stringent. Very few religions have warmly welcomed the LGBT community around the world. Mythologies have had many LGBT characters and religions are varyingly connected to such stories. Several religions have mythological contexts but that does not imply the LGBT characters or their stories were widely accepted over the centuries.
LGBT Themes in Religions
Religions have different responses to homosexual and bisexual activities. One religion can simply discourage it while another can have the punishment of death by execution for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people. There are three Abrahamic religions in the world, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. All three forbid same sex relationships. The original teachings of all the three prohibit sodomy. They condemn homosexual activity as sinful. Some reformed versions of these religions have been more accommodating of the LGBT community in modern times. Reform Judaism, the Metropolitan Community Church, the United Church of Christ, Anglican and Presbyterian Churches do not have any discriminatory practice for their LGBT members.
Reform Judaism allows gay and lesbian rabbis. It also has same sex marriage liturgies. Conservative Judaism and Re-constructionist Judaism also allows same sex unions and gays or lesbians can aspire to become rabbis. Such ordination is not universal though. It is more common in certain provinces than others. Historically, all Abrahamic religions have been based on a set of rules. These rules are laid down in the respective books, the Torah for Judaism, the Bible for Christianity and the Quran for Islam. None of these three endorse LGBT people or homosexual and bisexual activities. These books clearly condemn such behavior and the genders as a sin….

Lucien Grieves (a pseudonym), the head of the U.S. Satanic Temple told a British publication that more than half of the Satanists in America are LGBTQ.
Grieves told Attitude magazine, “From the start, when one of our early actions was the Pink Mass, a lot of LGBTQ people were looking for another community that didn’t see them as defined by their sexual orientation.”
Now, the membership has grown to more than 50% LGBT, even though they constitute only 2% of the American general population.
Greaves told the outlet, “It would be a conservative estimate to say that more than 50 percent of our membership is LGBTQ.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. LGBTQ advocacy organizations told The Associated Press that they had not heard of any attempts to add an S to the initialism to represent the word Satanist.
THE FACTS: The false claim emerged from a recent episode of “The Liz Wheeler Show,” a conservative political commentary podcast, in which the titular host states without evidence that an S standing for Satanist has been added to the abbreviation.
“Did you know that they recently added S to LGBTQIAS?” Wheeler asks in a video clip from the episode, which has received more than 24,000 views since it was posted to Facebook on Tuesday. “Do you know what S stands for? Satanist.”
Wheeler made the claim during a longer segment of her Sept. 9 show, which discussed the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill that would provide legal protection in the U.S. on the federal level for same-sex and interracial marriages.
The most common form of the initialism stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, and sometimes additional letters are added, including Q for queer or questioning, I for intersex and A for asexual. As the LGBTQ community evolved, the acronym expanded to include different sexual orientations and gender identities, according to a statement from the LGBTQ advocacy organization GLAAD.
