Treasury Turning Over Suspicious Bank Records on Biden Family to House GOP, Comer Says

The U.S. Treasury Department has reportedly agreed to provide Republican lawmakers access to a set of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) relating to transactions by President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, the president’s brother James Biden, and their business associates.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a statement today announcing the Treasury Department had agreed to provide the committee with an in-camera review of suspicious activity reports related to members of the Biden family and their business associates. Comer said the reports relate to “unusual foreign or high-dollar transactions.”
SARs are records generated by banking and financial institutions and are filed with the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). A FinCEN guide (pdf) lists several activities that could cause banks to generate SARs, such as transactions with no apparent business activity or large volumes of wire transfers.
In a November report (pdf), Comer cited media claims alleging U.S. banks may have generated more than 150 SARs related to Biden family business transactions. Comer formally requested access to these Treasury records in January after Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives.
Last week, Comer issued a subpoena, calling on Treasury Department Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs Jonathan Davidson to appear for a transcribed interview regarding the department’s handling of Republican requests for the Biden family SARs. After announcing that the Treasury Department had agreed to provide access to the SARs, Comer announced that Davidson’s interview would be postponed.
“After two months of dragging their feet, the Treasury Department is finally providing us access to the suspicious activity reports for the Biden family and their associates’ business transactions,” Comer said. “It should never have taken us threatening to hold a hearing and conduct a transcribed interview with an official under the penalty of perjury for Treasury to finally accommodate part of our request.”
NTD News contacted the Treasury Department for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., explained congressional investigators have identified at least a dozen bank accounts that were used to funnel money from foreign sources to Joe Biden’s family. Further, there’s evidence that funds went to benefit Joe Biden himself.
Comer said in an interview with the “Just the News, No Noise” television program that details are coming from the many Suspicious Activity Reports that have been filed with the Treasury Department in recent years by banks flagging Biden family overseas business transactions.
Comer said whistleblowers have added to that information, too.

Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee are seeking a retraction from Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, who praised the regime in China for its efforts to combat climate change, and are demanding that Granholm “testify immediately.”
Granholm, during a March 10 interview for the 2023 South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, said that “we can all learn from what China is doing” to lessen its carbon footprint. She commended China for being “very sensitive” on the issue of climate change, claiming that its investments in clean energy have been “encouraging.”
The GOP lawmakers told Granholm in a March 13 letter (pdf) that they were “deeply troubled” by her remarks, which they said raised “serious questions about [her] judgment and priorities” as energy secretary.
“China poses one of the greatest economic, military, and geopolitical threats to the United States, while continuing to be one of the world’s worst polluters,” they wrote. “As the Secretary of Energy, your core responsibilities involve national security, particularly maintaining and certifying the reliability of the nation’s nuclear deterrent and protecting our most sensitive technological secrets from theft by our chief adversaries, Russia and China.”…

Republican members of the House of Representatives are using a party retreat in Orlando, Florida to hone in on new details in a multi-faceted investigation of Joe Biden’s family’s business transactions, including the possible flow of Chinese money to the Biden family.
Ahead of the House Republican retreat, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) published a memo (pdf) purporting to detail the flow of $3 million from a Chinese business entity—State Energy HK Limited—to a Delaware limited liability company on March 1, 2017.
The Delaware company, Robinson Walker, LLC, then reportedly paid out more than a million dollars in multiple installments to business entities associated with Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden and brother James Biden; and direct payments to Joe Biden’s daughter-in-law Hallie Biden.
Robinson Walker, LLC reportedly paid the Biden-affiliated businesses, and Hallie Biden in 16 different payments spread out between March 6, 2017, and May 18, 2017.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) listed Comer’s investigative conclusions as one of several items House Republicans are focusing on during their party retreat.
“Recent documents that have come into our hands about suspicious activities indicate pretty clearly that $3 million was given to a dummy corporation from [a Chinese Communist Party-affiliated] energy company in China,” Biggs told NTD News on the sidelines of the House Republican retreat on Sunday….
