TGIF – March Ends With Extreme Madness

A Manhattan grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump yesterday on charges related to alleged hush money payments to adult film star Stephanie Gregory Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, and a potential second woman. There are supposedly 30 counts in the indictment.

Not released yet?!?!

Trump’s response

“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history. From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats – the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country – have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement. You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this.

“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.

“Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done. The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before. Ever.

“Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who was hand-picked and funded by George Soros, is a disgrace. Rather than stopping the unprecedented crime wave taking over New York City, he’s doing Joe Biden’s dirty work, ignoring the murders and burglaries and assaults he should be focused on. This is how Bragg spends his time!

“I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden. The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump has denied the charges since they were first made.

The timing of the announcement came as a surprise—Trump himself previously predicted he would be arrested last Tuesday and called for protests, but no indictment was made. As recently as yesterday, reports suggested the grand jury would break until at least late April.

DeSantis Denounces Trump Indictment, Says Florida ‘Will Not Assist in an Extradition Request’

From the article:

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) blasted the indictment of former President Donald Trump.

A New York grand jury voted on March 30 to indict Trump over allegedly misreporting a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels just weeks before the 2016 election.

In a Twitter post, in addition to slamming the indictment, DeSantis, who is expected to announce his candidacy for the White House soon, said Florida will not help extradite Trump to New York. However, extradition is out of the governor’s control.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head.

“It is un-American.

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney [Alvin Bragg] has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.

“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

However, as Trump defense attorney Joe Tacopina told CNN, the former president is expected to go to New York early next week….

Now comes the Red Flag!!!

New York officials are negotiating with the former president’s legal team over specifics, with an arraignment possible Tuesday.

Was it a fake fumble?

So much for March Madness.

Ops, that’s a different ball game!

Trump to appear in NYC court on Tuesday; mugshot, fingerprinting expected: Report

Came in e-mail 1:30 PM EST:

From the article:

…”While Trump will be the first former president indicted, he will not be the last if that is the standard for prosecution,” he explained.”It is still hard to believe that Bragg would primarily proceed on such a basis. There have been no other crimes discussed over months, but we will have to wait to read the indictment to confirm the grounds.”

He pointed out the DOJ, the FEC, and even Bragg’s office earlier decided there was no case….

…”The Justice Department went down this road before and it did not go well. They tried to prosecute former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on stronger grounds (which I also criticized) and failed. In that case, campaign officials and donors were directly involved in covering up an affair that produced a child. …The prosecution … collapsed.”

And he said the prosecution already has been “tarnished” in the case, because one attorney who worked earlier on the case published a book about the evidence, “something that some of us view as a highly unprofessional and improper act.”

And Bragg ran for office “on his pledge to bag Trump.”

Bragg faces hurdles from the statute of limitations, too, in his “race to the bottom in political prosecutions,” he said….

Trump Attorney Says Former President ‘Ready to Fight,’ Arraignment Expected Early Next Week

From the article:

Former President Donald Trump is set to be arraigned sometime “early next week” after a Manhattan grand jury voted for his indictment, Trump’s attorney Joseph Tacopina said on Thursday.

“We’re working that out—maybe Tuesday,” Tacopina, who has represented high-profile clients such as Michael Jackson and rapper Jay-Z, told The Epoch Times in an interview late Thursday.

“I’ve spoken to him,” Tacopina said when asked about Trump’s reaction to the indictment. “He’s angry, disappointed, but he’s ready to fight. He’s a pretty tough guy—his knees don’t buckle, so he’ll be ready to go.”…

…‘Days of Dictatorships’

According to Tacopina, Trump’s indictment echoes the means political opponents have used against each other under dictatorships.

“This harkens back to the days of dictatorships—Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and communist China—where you pick a political opponent you don’t like and you want to do away with him, you find a crime,” Tacopina said. “That’s what happened here.”

As an example of this political animus toward Trump, Tacopina cited former Manhattan Special Assistant District Attorney Mark Pomerantz’s account in his book “People vs. Donald Trump: An Inside Account.” The Manhattan DA’s office hired Pomerantz to assist in its probe of Trump’s finances in February 2021. Pomerantz resigned in February 2022 and published his book in February 2023 documenting the investigation into Trump.

“Pomerantz’s book basically laid that out—they said they hated Donald Trump—he would pay the prosecutor … for three years, scouring his records—personal records, business records—and they come up with absolutely nothing except this ridiculous [case],” Tacopina said.

J. Anthony Jordan, president of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York, told media outlets in a statement in February that Pomerantz violated professional ethics “by writing and releasing a book in the midst of an ongoing case.”

“We’re indicting the former president United States of America, for the first time, on a civil confidentiality agreement that’s legal across the board in any state in this country, and nothing more,” Tacopina said. “And it’s really, really, really troubling to me.”

“It’s a very sad day for the United States of America because today’s the day, I believe, that the rule of law died,” the attorney said. “And it’s not something that anyone should be happy about, whether you’re aligned with the right or the left.”…

From the article:

Ex-House speaker Nancy Pelosi is getting scorched on social media for turning the American basics of justice and law upside down.

After the New Manhattan DA on Thursday released his political indictment of President Trump, she demanded that Trump “prove innocence.’

That’s the reverse of the legal standard that no one has to “prove innocence,” but in all cases prosecutors must prove guilt, in criminal cases beyond a reasonably doubt. It’s a standard that law students would be expected to be fully familiar with even before they begin their training.

The Grand Jury has acted upon the facts and the law.

No one is above the law, and everyone has the right to a trial to prove innocence.

Hopefully, the former President will peacefully respect the system, which grants him that right.

DeSantis, GOPers respond to ‘un-American’ Trump indictment

From the article:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed the indictment of former-President Donald Trump as “un-American” on Thursday after news criminal charges for Trump were revealed.

DeSantis wrote the following statement on Twitter:

The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head.

It is un-American.

The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.

Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.

The popular Florida governor is widely considered Trump’s top competitor for the 2024 GOP presidential nominee.

Republicans nationwide rallied behind Trump, accusing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who is leading the case, of weaponizing the law for political purposes.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tweeted, “Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) tweeted a statement warning about how the unprecedented prosecution threatens the future of the American republic.

“Never before in American history has the party in power targeted a former president with criminal charges. Such an unprecedented step should not be taken lightly. But the left-wing prosecutor in New York City reportedly has charged President Trump with a convoluted legal theory already rejected by his predecessor and the Department of Justice,” Cotton wrote. “I hope that the courts dismiss the indictment as a matter of law, and I urge the prosecutors pursing President Trump to carefully consider the harm caused to our republic if flimsy charges against former presidents become a new common practice in our politics.”…

Trump Lawyer Predicts Motion to Dismiss Charges in Grand Jury Indictment

From the article:

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina said that he does not “know what to expect” when the former president is arraigned in New York City on charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office but suggested that Trump file a motion to dismiss it.

Tacopina said that his team has not yet seen the indictment, which is still sealed.

“We will take the indictment. We will dissect it. The team will look at every, every potential issue that we will be able to challenge and we will challenge, and of course I very much anticipate a motion to dismiss coming because there’s no law that fits this,” Tacopina told CNN on Sunday.

In a separate interview, the lawyer indicated that he doesn’t know what to expect when Trump arrives in Manhattan for his arraignment. Last week, he confirmed to The Epoch Times that Trump will surrender on Tuesday, April 4….

Rep. Jordan Says Subpoena ‘On the Table’ for Manhattan DA After Trump Indictment

From the article:

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said a subpoena is on the table if it will compel Manhattan District Attorney (DA) Alvin Bragg to testify about his recent decision to prosecute former President Donald Trump.

Last month, after Trump revealed he is facing prosecution by Bragg’s office, Jordan joined Reps. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Bryan Steil (R-Wisc.) on a letter questioning Bragg’s case. The letter asked Bragg to turn over any communications his office has with the New York County District Attorney’s Office or the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the DOJ’s component entities, or other federal law enforcement agencies relating to his case against Trump, and Bragg’s testimony regarding the prosecution.

On March 30, Bragg’s office confirmed it was going forward with a case against Trump. Leslie Dubeck, the general counsel for the Manhattan DA’s office, sent a response letter to Jordan and the other Republican lawmakers the following day, saying compliance with their requests for documents and testimony “would interfere with law enforcement” and a “congressional review of a pending criminal investigation usurps executive powers.”

ArtI.S8.C18.7.1 Overview of Congress’s Investigation and Oversight Powers

From the https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S8-C18-7-1/ALDE_00013657/ article:

Article I, Section 8, Clause 18:

[The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Congress’s power to conduct investigations stands on equal footing with its authority to legislate and appropriate.1 Although the power of inquiry was not expressly provided for in the Constitution, it has nonetheless been acknowledged as an essential and appropriate auxiliary to the legislative function derived implicitly from Article I’s vesting of legislative Powers in the Congress.2 This implied constitutional prerogative to gather information related to legislative activity is both critical in purpose, as Congress cannot legislate wisely or effectively in the absence of information, and extensive in scope, as Congress is empowered to obtain pertinent testimony and documents through investigations into nearly any matter.3 Included within the scope of the power is the authority to initiate investigations, hold hearings, gather testimony or documents from witnesses, and, in situations where either a government or private party is not forthcoming, compel compliance with congressional requests through the issuance and enforcement of subpoenas….

‘They are leaving millions of Americans voiceless in the face of tyranny’

Another day and another attack on conservative voices in America.

It is the Google-YouTube conglomerate that again is being accused of using its online power to “eradicate the web of conservative voices” after its decision to suspend Right Side Broadcasting Network.

RSBN was accused of “pushing content on the stolen elections, fraud in the 2020 elections, and [an absence] of opposing voices,” according to a report from The Gateway Pundit.

It’s a frequent claim from leftists and liberals who want to suppress concerns about America’s elections.

But the facts remain that a Media Research Center poll after the 2020 election revealed that Joe Biden almost undoubtedly would have lost key swing states – and the election, had social and legacy media not interfered in the election by suppressing damaging, but accurate, reporting about the Biden family’s international business schemes.

Further, there was the undue influence on election results from the $400 million plus that Mark Zuckerberg handed out through foundations to local election officials, who often used the windfall to recruit voters from Democrat districts.

Almost certainly without those factors, which came from outside America’s election process, the U.S. would be in the middle of President Trump’s second term now….

…”On Monday, RSBN received a notice from YouTube informing us that due to content violating their ‘elections misinformation’ policies, the platform has removed several videos. These include President Trump’s most recent rally in Waco, Texas, his remarks at CPAC, and our exclusive sit-down interview with him at Mar-a-Lago,” the network said….
